Beginnings
My
desire to start tusSta
Hair Extensions
grew from a desire to get hair extensions
myself. I was a stay at home mum of a 6
month old little girl, who really had a
hard time adjusting to motherhood. I needed
something to pamper myself – a change, a
new look. With the hype about hair extensions,
I thought I would love to have that kind
of a change.
I went to a local salon
that did hair extensions to get some information
and a price. It was made clear that I would
need to be meticulous with maintenance –
'fine, I can do that'. It would take a few
hours – 'of course, no problems'. Then I
got a price $1600. 'What?! I can't afford
that'. I walked away, shocked and disappointed.
I went home
to see if I could find someone to do them
cheaper, but as I researched more, I
quickly realised that cheaper extensions
means poor quality or unqualified people
putting extensions in.
That is
why tusSta Hair Extensions exists.

The
aim of tusSta is to fill
the gap between:
- Affordable
but poor quality, and - Good
quality but expensive
In
other words, AFFORDABLE QUALITY!

It took the better part
of two years but, with the help of
a few great staff (thanks Esma & Waz)
and three fantastic hairdressers (thanks
Janette, Mel & Ange), I have established
a brand of hair extensions that I am so
proud of.
I searched the globe
for the best quality Indian Remy hair,
a factory providing great workmanship, and
a system that is safe and simple.
Once I had the extension
and system organised, I needed to make sure
I could stay true to my vision...

I refused to sacrifice
quality, so I had to find another way to
keep prices down. The only way to do this
was to keep packaging simple, advertising
to a minimum and profit margins low. We
have done it and are happy to present our
product to you.

On top of our quality
extensions, we teach our Extensionists
that a hair extension appointment is more
than about making a profit. They need to
understand the importance of the hair
extension experience – how it can transform
someone, give them the boost they need and
even help improve their self-esteem.
Finally, after their
training, our Extensionists must also complete
3 full heads of extensions and have these
assessed before gaining their certification.
This means they have training AND
experience.
